A chimps look at Washington DC Theater.

I work as an actor in the Washington, DC Area. I wont be saying who I am or what shows I am in as I want to continue to be a working actor. I find the present state of theater to be a joke. It is dominated by the thought that to be a good actor you must go to college to train and have a degree. This is just bullshit. I count myself to be an old school actor. I see it as a craft not something you need a degree for. Did Richard Burbage have a degree? I think not. I believe that acting is the second oldest profession after prostitution. That the only reason men started acting was because they had to find something to do while their women were out making a living on their backs. Once the women saw that the men were having more fun then they were they decided to get off their backs and on their feet and join them. So for all you people who proclaim "I went to Julliard" you just paid good money to be trained to do something that is best learned by doing, by being on the boards acting. Not sitting in some classroom pretending your a tree.
